[Resolved] Windows10 on VB - MacBook Pro

Post by Joff3R »

Hello. I'm having problems with extreme lags working on Windows10 and MS Win Server 2016 through Virtual Box.
I'm running it on MB Pro 2017, 13.3", 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD i5 2,3 GHz.
I'm pasting logs from WIN 10

00:00:01.294591 Full Name: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7360U CPU @ 2.30GHz"
You have assigned all your CPUs to the VM. The host is going to run low on resources, since VirtualBox cares about physical processors (cores), not logical ones (threads). Your i5-7360U has 2 cores / 4 threads...
00:00:00.998073 File system of '/Users/bartek/Desktop/

00:00:03.835463 VMMDev: Guest Log: BIOS: Booting from CD-ROM...
You haven't even installed Win10! You're booting from the DVD. Install it, then install the Guest Additions (ch. 4.2 of the User Manual), then we talk again...

Unless your startup sequence is asking you to "Press any key to boot from the DVD" and you don't. In which case you should 1) eject the DVD, 2) install the Guest Additions (ch. 4.2 of the User Manual), 3) we talk again...

BTW, the proper way to capture a log is:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe error / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
