YACOEP (yet another crashing on exit post)

Post by pkivolowitz »

Hi All,

VB has been working great! I plan to introduce it in many CS courses at Carthage College in the Fall.

Today, I ran out of space in the student VM (WattOS 10 - a slimmed down Ubuntu). I followed the directions found here:
www dot jeffgeerling dot com/blogs/jeff-geerling/resizing-virtualbox-disk-image (sorry - can't port URLs yet)
enlarging from 6GB to 8GB.
The steps involved were (in gparted):
stop swapping, delete swap partition (merged two unallocated partitions)
enlarge the / partition.
create a swap partition
swap on

Now, whenever I exit this VM, VB crashes. My other VM's don't seem to have this problem.

I have reinstalled the VB tools, no change.

I have attached the log file.

Help?

Thanks

I see no sign of any crash in the log. I see a normal close request followed by a normal sequence to VM process termination. Total run time 30 seconds.

Do you perhaps mean that the VB manager app crashed? If so then that is a separate process so I wouldn't expect a problem to appear in the log for any VM.

Ah! Of course. Yes, the manager crashes. Is there a log I can provide for that?

You can have the VM, it is for public use, if that helps.

Thanks!

I'm on Windows, not OS X, and since you don't have a generic VirtualBox problem I'm probably going to have to leave you for other OS X users to address your problem.

At the very least whomever it is will want to have better details of the "crash". E.g. a precise error message if there is one. You can also try posting the "VBoxSVC.log" file, but that is really for the background service process that caters for all running VMs, so it may not show a manager GUI crash. VBoxSVC.log can be found in the same folder as VirtualBox.xml.
