[Resolved] VB not recognising .dmg of system installer

Post by GreePaul »

I've just installed Virtual Box on my Mac Airbook
I have a Windows 7 HP installer disc, but the laptop does not have a DVD drive.
I made a .dmg image of the DVD contents on my old computer and copied that onto the laptop.
But when I try to install it, VB does not recognise the .dmg drive image.
Can anyone suggest what to try? Thanks.

You'll have to explain in complete detail what you did here: BTW, OEM disks (like the HP/Dell ones) are usually tied to the hardware and you can't install Windows, even if you manage to create a valid, bootable ISO.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Many thanks, Socratis.
At your suggestion, I tried an ISO instead of a DMG and that has solved the problem.
