Can't set correct display resolution since 5.2.6 update...

Post by Starion »

Using VirtualBox on Mac Pro with 1440x900 (standard resolution for this Mac Pro), as of the last update to VirtualBox, I can't set the display settings in Win10 to anything higher than 1440x754. This used to work. What do I need to change?

Maximize it from the green "button" of the VM window?
This is not an "OSX Guests" question, it's an "OSX Hosts" question.

Makes no difference. Highest shown monitor in Windows is now 1440x744. In any view mode.

  • What "makes no difference"?
  • Does it go full screen or not?
  • Does it get maximized or not?
  • Do you see empty space on the sides?
  • Do you want to go full screen, maximized or what exactly?
You don't have to see the resolution in Windows, just do it from VirtualBox (or OSX), not from your guest.
  1. Did you update the GAs in Windows? Post a ZIPPED "VBox.log" from a complete VM run (clean boot, login, clean shutdown).
  2. VirtualBox Preferences » Display » Maximum Guest Screen Size. Is that set to "Automatic"? If not set it.
  3. Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager. Select "Show in Finder". the selected ZIP ".vbox" file and attach it to your response.

What "makes no difference"?
Everything. Full screen, 1440x754, space on top and bottom, no Mac menu bar.
Maximized, 1440x754, space on top and bottom, Mac menu bar and dock.
No space on the sides.
In other words, everything tried makes no difference, just what I said.

Of course. This is not the first time I have updated VirtualBox. In fact I have done it at least a dozen times.
VirtualBox Preferences » Display » Maximum Guest Screen Size. Is that set to "Automatic"? If not set it.
Was already set to "Automatic".
Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager. Select "Show in Finder". the selected ZIP ".vbox" file and attach it to your response.
Files requested are attached.
