Win10 errors after updating to 5.1.28-117968

Post by BlackWoxs »

On updating from VirtualBox-5.1.26-117224-OSX to VirtualBox-5.1.28-117968-OSX and installing the Guest additions I noticed that I could not add or remove programs under Windows 10 Pro (Version 10.0.15063 Build 15063 64-bit). System: Base Memory 4096MB, Processors 2; Display: Video Memory 256MB, 2D and 3D acceleration on

Every time I try to install or remove any program I receive the error "The extended attributes are inconsistent", furthermore as soon as I completed this update I started receiving an Internet Explorer error on shutdown:

explorer.exe - Application Error
The instruction at 0x00007FFE0773966F referenced memory at 0x0000000000000053. The memory could not be read.
Click on OK to terminate the program

Nothing had been changed in the image from Windows point of view, no updates of any sort. I rolled back to 5.1.26 and used a saved copy of the image (from before the 5.1.28 update but exactly the same image) and all was fine. I have been using this image without problem for some time through various Windows and Virtual Box upgrades, this is the first time I have struck such an issue. I repeated the upgrade a second time and had exactly the same issues. Now rolled back again to 5.1.26 and all working perfectly well.

Any ideas?
