Error during the start of Windows 10 Pro on OS Sierra 10.12.5

Hey,
I´ve installed Windows 10 Pro on my Macbook Pro.
Installation was successful. But when I try to start the machine again the following error-message appears:

    '/Volumes/StorEDGE/Windows/Windows.vdi' (VERR_VD_VDI_INVALID_HEADER).

You seem to be storing your VDI in either a network or an external hard drive. The VDI got corrupted. You could try to run the following command, but 1) I've never tried it, and 2) don't get your hopes too high:

• VBoxManage internalcommands repairhd /Volumes/StorEDGE/Windows/Windows.vdi

If that doesn't work, there is an expert that knows VDIs in and out, let's hope he sees the thread. He might be able to help you, if the corruption is repairable.

And make sure that you have enough space on that "StorEDGE" hard drive. And make sure that you don't plug/unplug it at will.

Thank you for your help! Yes I store it on an external hard drive. It has enough storage and won´t be unplugged.

I was wondering why I can install windows and run it and after quitting it can´t do a restart.

I already told you why, the VDI got corrupted.
• Has this happened more than once?
• What's the filesystem of "StorEDGE"?

No - e.g. Ubuntu worked fine.
It´s ExFAT.

So far I know that my header is broken. I have no backup. How do I fix that?

I've seen the thread, the OP contacted me by PM and I've told him what I need to investigate:

1. the first 2098176 bytes of the VDI, saved as a binary from your hex editor, then ZIPped and attached here.
2. the exact size, to the byte, of the VDI file.
3. (ideally) the logical size of the VDI drive (e.g. you created a 50GB drive).

Issue parked until this information is available.
