Windows 10 64 bit guest, randomly restarts
I tried fiddling with the vbox settings like using hyper-v in acceleration and assigning 1cpu (instead of the default 2CPU's), disabling audio, but to no avail.
I should probably mention that even though I've allocated 3gigs of 6gb of total ram to the guest os, my hardware's pretty weak (2.26 GHz and a 256display memory)
If someone could please take a look at my log file and give some insight,
thanks

You're coming close to exhausting all of the host's free RAM. I think you should not allocate more than 2048MB RAM to this VM.VBox.log wrote: 00:00:02.682602 Host RAM: 6144MB (6.0GB) total, 3794MB (3.7GB) available
...

00:00:03.395249 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000008000000 (134 217 728, 128 MB)
I'm not familiar with this error. It seems to be caused by the guest using a newish CPU instruction. In which case there should be nothing random about the crash - as soon as you hit the code, it should crash. I don't know Mac models - is yours an old one?VBox.log wrote: 00:06:13.985108 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Windows 10 64 bit guest, randomly restarts
About the RAM: 3794 - (3072 + 128 + overhead) = not enough left on your host. I have my Win10x64 running comfortably with 2048 MB, just like mpack suggested. If you really want to have that amount of memory to your guest, then close a couple of applications in the host.
Of course that's not your problem. As mpack said, this is your problem:
See https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/15801. There are some potential workarounds, but not something definitive. I wouldn't hold my breath. But, I would add my logs, mainly so that you subscribe to the ticket in case there's an update.
You should remove the Guest Addition CD from the VM once you're done installing them, which you have. Otherwise you're going to have problems in the next upgrade. BTW, since you have them installed, you should also enable 2D and 3D acceleration in your VM Settings.00:00:03.394704 Path <string> = "/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso" (cb=67)
Of course that's not your problem. As mpack said, this is your problem:
Combination of: OSX host + Core2 Duo + (Win>7) => Guru Meditation. This is due to the fact that 1) your computer is old and 2) VirtualBox has not implemented yet a workaround for a missing instruction: stmxcsr.00:00:02.681351 OS Product: Darwin 00:00:03.098169 Guest OS type: 'Windows10_64' 00:00:04.389979 Full Name: "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7550 @ 2.26GHz" 00:06:13.985110 !! Re: Windows 10 64 bit guest, randomly restarts
Thanks guys, I'll just downgrade to a windows 7 32bit. I started using vbox in the first place was to have a platform for using Primavera 16.2 (which I've been introduced to just recently)
Anyway, I understand that it works just as well on a windows 7
Thanks for your time n effort y'all

Re: Windows 10 64 bit guest, randomly restarts
Maybe it's the same problem that caused me to downgrade VirtualBox - not Windows.

Re: Windows 10 64 bit guest, randomly restarts
Sorry for the late reply,
I downgraded to win 7 32bit, took all of the advice mentioned above (limited ram allocation, eject guest addtions), and voila! Haven't had a crash since.
I'm using the latest vbox version (5.1.14)
Thanks guys, you've been a big help.
