Hello!
I am running VirtualBox 5.1.2 on a Macbook Pro running 10.11.6. It is fully patched. The Guest is Windows 7 Pro, fully patched. On VirtualBox Guest Additions and the Extension Pack are up to date. When I updated VirtualBox to 5.1, I lost audio. It's not really a big deal, but it is annoying that I haven't figured out the fix yet. When I start WIndows, before the OS even loads VirtualBox gives me an error stating, "Some HDA audio streams (PCM Output) could not be opened. Guest applications generating audio output or depending on audio input may hang. Make sure your host audio device is working properly. Check the logfile for error messages of the audio subsystem." My audio settings had not changed, but yes, I did try several different settings and none have worked. Is this a known bug? I've attached a zipped file of the screenshot of the error message and the VirtualBox log.
Thanks!
