Fedora 24 Kernel 4.6.3-300 Breaks VBox 5.0.24

Post by grayfox »

On my MacBook Pro anyway...

Symptoms: Attempting to save the VBox Fedora instance leads to an 'Aborted' saved
image that cannot be booted.

A sorta workaround is to power down the instance, then a reboot will work ( but
I needed to click on the desktop to change from a black screen to the actual desktop).

The client is fedora 24 and the Mac OS is 10.11.5

Reverting back to kernel 4.5.7-200 fixes the problem.

Gack, now version 4.5.7-200 is showing the same behavior:
Saving a running instance results in an 'Aborted' state.

I have to power down the instance in order to do a reboot...

These kinds of problems that are reproducible should be reported to bugtracker.
It would also help if you can post the ticket number here so other can see the progress, add information, or see the final results.

FIXED: Fedora 24 Kernel 4.6.3-300 Breaks VBox 5.0.24

I turned off 3d video acceleration and that appears to fixed the problem.

I reloaded the 4.6.3-300 32bit kernel family and was able to save running sessions without
the abort ( and restarted the saved state ).
