INTEL vs. AMD

Post by pcallahan1966 »

I see the download for APPLE OS X hosts says its for AMD processors. Will this distribution work on a Intel based Mac? I did not know Mac's had AMD processors as well. I am guessing AMD is a older Mac standard? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

AMD64 is the indicator for the current 64-bit technology used in Intel and AMD CPUs.
It is used to distinguish between the older IA-64 technology, which is not compatible and is used in Intel's Itanium CPUs.
