Display memory corruption and Mac OS X hang

I am running VB 1.6.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.3 on a Mac Book Pro with two VMs defined: OpenSolaris 2008.05 and Windows XP (SP3.) I have installed the Guest Additions into both VMs.

When running either VM, my Mac sometimes freezes and requires I power cycle to recover. When this happens, I am running VB and parts or all of the MacOS X display become corrupted--meaning that the pixels are scrambled, with random block patterns displayed on the screen as if the Mac's display memory is being incorrectly written.

I have not been able to figure out what I am doing that triggers this problem--it does not happen every time I use VB. Has anyone else
seen this problem? Is there additional information I could gather
that would be useful in determining the cause of the problem?
