Smart Card Reader Reiner SCT via USB

Post by Hinnack »

Hi,

I can not get a Rainer SCT Smart Card Reader working under Windows XP.
Same VM under VM-Ware works fine. Main difference:
If I go to the device manager and open properties dialog for the reader I get different locations for the reader:
- VMWARE says: Pfad 0 (cyberjack RFID standard)
- VBOX says: Pfad 0 (USB Device)

So VMWare uses the device name instead of (USB Device).

Or has anybody any other idea?

regards

What host? Did you install the extension pack? Did you create a filter for the device?

Host is MacosX 10.10.3.
VBOX is 4.3.28 Guest Additions in WinXP, too

Yes, I did install the extension pack and I did create a filter by selecting the device, but did not do any changes..

Moving this topic to OS X hosts, since the guest is usually irrelevant in cases like this.

If memory serves then USB3 ports are not currently supported on Linux or OS X ports. On Windows host the situation is slightly different: USB3 ports are ok, USB3 devices are not.

USB3 support is being added in VirtualBox v5, so you may want to take a look at the v5 beta. Check other posts first to see if USB3 is working yet on OS X.
