A bug is when a program does something wrong, not when a user does. Since there are thousands if not tens of thousands of users that don't have your issue, it seems unlikely it is the program.
The problem is I don't know for sure if you deleted everything or not. I don't know if you deleted something from the "VirtualBox VMs" folder you shouldn't have.
Let's start again. After you reinstalled and first start VirtualBox are any guests listed?

Re: VirtualBox 4.3.28 completely hosed for me
No, I left the VirtualBox VMs folder alone.
Okay, so starting over:
No, when I uninstalled and reinstalled VirtualBox, there are no guests. If I try to add one, it.. holy crap, it works now! Thanks, I'm glad you made me take a second look. I don't know what I did this time. The last time I did the VBox uninstall script, it really didn't catch everything, because after a reinstall, the VMs were still there. So I first uninstalled via CleanMyMac which looks at all related files and trashes them, then I followed that up with the VBox uninstall script to clean anything else up. I reinstalled, and now everything appears to be working just fine.
Thanks again You saved me from having to spend $100+ on VMware Fusion Pro.

Source code for the Uninstall Tool. You'll notice that it's designed to uninstall everything EXCEPT the VMs, which most people would consider a good thing, especially if they don't have backups of the VMs. You can, using the VirtualBox Manager, explicitly delete the VMs before the uninstall of VB, by right-clicking on the VM you want to uninstall in the list, selecting Remove, and then selecting Delete All Files.CaptSaltyJack wrote:The last time I did the VBox uninstall script, it really didn't catch everything, because after a reinstall, the VMs were still there.

There's a notable difference there. I didn't want to remove the actual VMs, I wanted to remove VBox's references to them.

Ah shoot. It's doing it again. Very random. I didn't change anything at all from the last time it worked.

Next time? try and be a little more descriptive. "It's doing it again" is not helpful and forces those who want to help to go back and read through your posts to understand what "it" might be.

I'm not going to post the same screenshots and descriptions I already did. It's not the end of the world if someone has to click 'page 1' and go back.
I bought VMware Fusion Pro at any rate. I needed a solution ASAP.

Try this:
Create a new user on your Mac and open Virtual Box. Do you have the problem there? You may just have corruption in your user. I've had that before with Safari and Firefox and go in to the guest account and it all works fine.
