Hi all!
I can't install in a different location on my Mac. I really need to because I need to be able to run Visual Basic in the computer lab at school. The options for "Install for just me" and "Install to a different location" are greyed out. Any help?

Well, you can install it then move the application to a different folder. I don't know what running Visual Basic has to do with anything.

K, thanks. I'll try. By the way, if I install on a Mountain Lion computer and use it on a Mavericks computer will it still run well?loukingjr wrote:Well, you can install it then move the application to a different folder. I don't know what running Visual Basic has to do with anything.

I'm not sure what your question means.superblox02 wrote:By the way, if I install on a Mountain Lion computer and use it on a Mavericks computer will it still run well?
Will what run well?
Are you trying to install VirtualBox on a school's computer or your personal computer?

Ah, sorry. I'm trying to install on my personal ML virtual machine in VMware (just installing, I'm trying to use it on the physical iMac)loukingjr wrote:I'm not sure what your question means.superblox02 wrote:By the way, if I install on a Mountain Lion computer and use it on a Mavericks computer will it still run well?

I tried to install then copy to my flash drive, when I open there's a tiny space in the dock for a few seconds then it disappears. Same thing if I copy to Desktop and open there.
I even tried installing as root; still wouldn't work

Re: Installing VBox - Can't install anywhere except Applicat
The OS X version of VirtualBox has to be installed in /Applications. There's no way around that, it won't work if it's moved. There are hardcoded paths needed for security (hardening).
Installing as root will do absolutely nothing. The OS X installer asks for the necessary privileges when needed.

Not trying to be mean but the more you type, the more confusing your posts become.
First, I take it you have ML installed as a guest in VMWare Fusion. Why you would want to install VirtualBox in a VM is escaping me when you can just install it directly on your Mac.
Why you want to move the VB application escapes me as well.
What any of this has to do with running Visual Basic really escapes me.
