WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe question
WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe question
I'm trying to install XP VMs on my MAC os, I need to open the xpm file inside the sources folder to extract the VirtualXPVHD file. Is there a program that I can use to do this?

Re: WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe question
XP Mode is only supported on the physical Windows 7 machine on which it was installed. It is not supported on any other platform, not even a physical Windows 8 OS. An XP Mode vm is part of the Windows 7 OS and does not have its own license, but is licensed as part of Windows 7.

And just to add that, because of what BillG has pointed out, a Win7 XP mode VM will fail to activate on an OS X host (or any other non-original host).
I suggest that you look on eBay for XP licenses - these are now quite cheap, no longer treated like gold dust as they once were. Be careful to avoid branded OEM disks (HP, Dell, etc), and upgrade disks, recovery disks, or anything that mentions SP3. Go only for full original hologrammed install CDs (retail or unbranded OEM).
