Question about VRDE with Linux Guest

Post by BaronVonJ »

This may be a naive question, but can VRDE be used if I installed Unbuntu Server with only OpenSSH/LAMP (ie no desktop GUI or x11)? After starting it the VM headless the console says VRDE is listening and I can SSH to the VM, but MS Remote Desktop can't connect, I can't even telnet to port 3389 on the VM's IP.

And subsequently, if I've started a VM as headless, can I attach a console from the VirtualBox GUI?

VRDP uses the host IP and the guest port number.
