export/import appliance error (NS_ERROR_FAILURE_0x80004005)
Having successfully created both Win XP and Win 7 guests in VB 4.3.18 ( hosted on Mac OS X 10.10.2 ), can anyone please explain why I am able to export the Win XP and then import this appliance into VB 4.1.8 ( hosted on Mac OS X 10.5.8 ) yet the Win 7.ova fails to import with the attached error?

Depends on what the referenced medium is. I think it is the medium that is still mounted in the virtual CD/DVD drive.
These should be removed before exporting.

Thank you. Yes, removing the VBoxGuestAdditions.iso before exporting the Win 7 appliance did the trick

ISO images aren't exported by default in current version 4.3.26. If you upgrade Virtualbox i think the problem will dissapear.

Actually this has been fixed in many versions but it keeps cropping up. The real fix is to remove the image and be done with it.vvp wrote:ISO images aren't exported by default in current version 4.3.26. If you upgrade Virtualbox i think the problem will dissapear.

Yep. The user shouldn't be redistributing the GAs ISO anyway - that can lead to nothing but problems, even if OVA itself wasn't an obstacle. In fact I would suggest that VBox ought to test for this before exporting the VM.Perryg wrote:Actually this has been fixed in many versions but it keeps cropping up.
