From what I understand, there should only be one instance of VBoxSVC running on a machine.
Why then do I see multiple instances running? What should I be looking for to figure this out?
I have VirtualBox version 4.3.18r96516 installed.

I only see one in Activity Monitor. The current version is 4.3.26 btw. You may want to uninstall 4.3.18 using the VirtualBox_Uninstall.tool and install the current version.
