Hi all,
I have a VM with a shared folder pointing to a external USB HDD device. If I start the VM and the USB is plugged in, there's no problem. I can access to it through the /media/sf_<name> folder.
However, if I start the VM with the USB device NOT plugged in, I don't have access (obviously). But if later, and whilst the VM is up&running, I plug in the USB drive, the only way to have VM to see it, is by stopping (halting) and restarting the VM.
This does not happen with VMWare
I'm using VB 4.3.18
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Need to halt VM to get shared folder
That is how shared folders are implemented in VirtualBox. So the ideas would be, use VirtualBox as designed or use VMWare. This was an easy question.

Ok. Good to know it's not a bug or a configuration issue.
And... that's what I use to do
cheers
