Internet Connection issue on mac os x

Post by luks »

Hello
I have installed Virtual box and Oracle Linux version on Mac OS X host.
I tried various option to get the internet working on my guest but its no luck so far.

The current Network setting as :
Enable Network Adaptor : Checked
Attached to : Bridget Adaptor
Name : en1 Wifi (Airport)
Adaptor Type : Intel PRO/1000MT Desktop

I tired with NAT/ Host only etc adaptor too.

Please help.

Try again with NAT. "Host only" mode is for a secure (isolated) network between host and guest - it's kinda the point of the thing that you can't get onto the internet via that. The clue is in the name "host only".

I tired that but no luck.
Any other suggestion.

Also i have another guest (Ubuntu) installed on same host and it uses the NAT and it works fine.
I am assuming it has to be something with Oracle Linux.

From your description I would say that you need to address this issue within the guest. Set the guest to use VBox NAT and configure the guest to use dhcp.

Do what? Configure the guests network? Use google.

I tired using setting dhcp connection ( adding if cfg-eth#) file however it did not work.
Also when i use the command ifconfig it shows me only lo and its property but when i do the ifconfig -a then it gives me eth6 and some values.
I could not locate that file if cfg-eth6 file under network-scripts so manually added it and when i did the ifconfig ethic up internet did NOT work as well my localhost (was server em console ) went down.
Am i doing this correct ?
and as soon as i bring the ether down localhost went up and running.
So lost don't know what to do.

Please help!

From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

According to your setting you should have connection, so it must be in the guest.

If you type lspci in the guests terminal you should see an Intel ethernet adapter. If so then it is all about configuration of the guest.
