Hi,
This is actually a bug report.
I have this Intel MacBook Pro (late 2013) model: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m ... specs.html running latest OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
I have tried this with 3 guest VMs:
- Windows XP 64 bit
- Windows 7 64 bit
- Ubuntu Linux 14.04 64 bit
I updated from 4.3.20 to 4.3.22 (with its extension pack) on my host, then updated guest additions in all 3 guest VMs to the 4.3.22 ones. Since then, when I close my laptop's lid (causing the host to sleep), the Ubuntu guest VMs to crash. When I re-open the lid, the Windows guests (XP and 7) resume and are still running as expected. The Ubuntu guest window however has disappeared. When I open the VirtualBox Manager GUI the Ubuntu guest shows state "Aborted".
I downgraded to 4.3.20 and all 3 guests now suspend/resume normally again.
I am attaching logs from the Ubuntu guest. VBox.log shows the 4.3.22 guest never being able to resume, whereas VBox.log.1 shows it suspend/resume working properly on 4.3.20.

Re: 4.3.22 causes Ubuntu guest to die when host sleeps
Hello,
I am reporting a similar issue as the OP. I updated Virtualbox to 4.3.22. After waking up my host, my LUbuntu guest refused to respond with black screen state. Rebooting guest several times, downgrading to 4.3.20 and rebooting the guest in normal as well as recovery mode did not help.
My system:
Product name: HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC
Processor: Intel Core i7-4700MQ with Intel HD Graphics 4600 (2.4 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores)
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (2 GB DDR3 dedicated)
HDD: 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
Network: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
Attached my log file for information.
Best regards,

Re: 4.3.22 causes Ubuntu guest to die when host sleeps
There is a bug report for this: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/13874
You can subscribe to receive updates for when it is addressed.
Having said that, your problem seems to be slightly different. In my case the after resuming the window has disappeared and the guest is "aborted" (crashed). It is not stuck. Furthermore, downgrading to 4.3.20 fixes things.
