Capitalisation of filenames on shared folders

Post by blanka »

I use VB 1.6 and I have to say I really like the program. I have made a shared folder of my projects folder. I have two problems with it:
- Applications won't browse to the folder when choosing "open". The only way to open a file is by browsing in the "Windows Explorer" and double clicking the file you like to edit
- If you have editted a file and chose "save", the file name gets capitalized. project.doc becomes PROJECT.DOC. I think this is quite anoying.
Does anyone recognise this problems or have a solution to (one of) them?

There is also another problem. Files saved to a shared folder get the wrong unix file permissions. Normally files are
owner: administrator_name, perm: read and write
group: admin, perm: read and write
others perm: read and write

But with Virtual Box they are

owner: administrator_name, perm: read and write
group: admin, perm: no permissions
others perm: no permissions

How did you go about finding them in Windows Explorer? I can't seem to find where the files may be. When I look under "My Network Places" > "VirtualBox..." I don't see anything. And trying to connect to \\vboxsvr\share is returning "Error 67: Network name cannot be found".
