VB 1.4.1 Virtual Machines 'inaccessible'

Post by wireman »

Following my upgrade from 1.4.1 to 1.6 my old VMs are now marked as 'inaccessible'. The details shows:
Could not load the settings file '/Users/chris/Library/VirtualBox/Machines/Mepis 7 RC2/Mepis 7 RC2.xml'.
Element '{http://www.innotek.de/VirtualBox-settings}Port': The attribute 'hostMode' is required but missing.
Element '{http://www.innotek.de/VirtualBox-settings}Port': The attribute 'hostMode' is required but missing.

Result Code:
0x80004005
Component:
VirtualBox
Interface:
IVirtualBox {2d3b9ea7-25f5-4f07-a8e1-7dd7e0dcf667}

How can I regain access on my old VMs?
Thanks

For such an old version, I would recommend creating new entries for these VMs and point to the VDIs. This way it properly sets up the XML settings file.

How is it such an old version? AFAIK it was the previous release to 1.6 on OS X.

I did keep an eye on the website, but although the Windows and Linux host versions had updates I couldn't see any updates for the OS X version.

You can try to manual edit your xml configuration files. Add hostMode="Disconnected" to the <Port> entries of the <UART> section.

That fixed it. Thanks!
