OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview
Anybody tried to load the developer preview of OS X 10.9?
Re: OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview
Yeah I've tried it a few times tonight but keep getting this error when selecting the image file to boot from. I've tried re-downloading the disc image file and playing around with settings, but it wont give in.
Bad quality screenshot to keep it under 128kb and I just made an account so couldn't post an Imgur link.
I haven't tried Mavericks with any other virtual machine software and don't fancy installing as a real host OS just to check it out. Anyone know what's up? Could this just be a problem what with it being a first beta?

You need to extract the InstallESD.dmg.
Open the DMG, right click on the Installer.app, choose Show Contents, Open Contents, Shared Support, then copy InstallerESD.dmg onto your desktop.
It is worth noting that I haven't been able to get this to work either, but this is typically what you would use for a boot disk.

I'm just running 10.9 from an external disk.

I "upgraded" from a working version of VirtualBox 4.2.12 on 10.6.8 to 10.9 and now I'm getting this:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 7 - Experimental Networking.
Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-en1' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).
Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)

Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
with the following config:

Re: OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview
This might have been helpful IF you would have provided the steps you used to do it... At least we know you're a pro at tooting your own horn.Fadzi wrote:Im running OSX 10.9 as my main machine with VB and Windows 8. So far so good!!
Re: OS X 10.9 Mavericks Developer Preview
This thread was the first hit on google when searching for OS X 10.9 on VB, but with no answer. I kept searching, found an answer, and now I thought I could help point others in the right(?) direction.
Basically I followed this guide, from ntk: http://ntk.me/2012/09/07/os-x-on-os-x/
It says to get the distribution from Apple through its developer program and extract the InstallESD.dmg
Run the command
Please let other users know if this works for you or not!
Hope this will aid others in the pursuit for a Maverick install on VB.
UPDATE: It seems like my VB has trouble running, I don't know why but it boots sometimes then it crashes/restarts and cannot boot again..

/Applications/Install OS X 10.9 Developer Preview.app/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmgThen download a patching tool https://github.com/ntkme/InstallESD.dmg.tool
Run the command
InstallESD.dmg.tool -B -i InstallESD.dmg -o Output.dmgIf I understood the guide, depending on your current system, you may have to use
InstallESD.dmg.tool -B -i InstallESD.dmg -o Output.dmg -- NullCPUPowerManagement.kextThen mount the Output.dmg to your VB and install.
