Convert/import VMware fusion vmdk to virtualbox

I've been trialing a Win7x64 VM in VMware fusion and wanted to try out Virtualbox before i pay $70 for Fusion.
I followed a tutorial on this forum for copying/importing the Fusion VM into virtualbox. No matter what I try, Windows starts and blue screens after about 10 seconds, during the windows loading animation. I don't know how get a screen cap during the BSOD , which I guess would be the first step towards solving the problem. Any Ideas?
What information about my setup would be helpful for any other troubleshooting recommendations?
My host is a mid-2010 macbook pro i7 8GB ram, and guest is a win7x64 VM from Fusion.
