I'm sorry, what's dxdiag and where can do i go to check it?
And what is DX8/9? In terms of installing GA new, can I simply just uninstall them and then reinstall in safe mode?
If it's not obvious already, I don't know anything about computers. :-/ But I really appreciate your help!!!

First read chapter 4.4 of the user manual.
hint: DX=DirectX
"dxdiag" is a program from windows to check if DirectX works. Start this program and check if DX8/9 is working.

Re: OriginLab crashes Windows XP
I am running DX9.0c. So does that mean my guest additions are installed correctly?
I'm thinking my next step is to try installing the guest additions one by one? Then I could determine what exactly is incompatible about them with OriginLab? Does this sound reasonable? I guess I'm not really understanding the errors in the log file to see from there.

Re: OriginLab crashes Windows XP
The errors that you are seeing are due to the preview window in the VBox Main Manager. Right click on it and set polling to 0 or disabled.
If the program works without the guest additions but refuses to by crashing the guest with them installed than you may need to run it that way. Some programs are made to run differently if they do not detect acceleration and you would need to contact the program maintainer. There is a possibility that it will not run correctly in a virtual machine.

Re: OriginLab crashes Windows XP
Origin is sometimes a problem software not only in virtual but also in host OSes. Use MagicPlot instead

Re: OriginLab crashes Windows XP
I have the exact same problem with Origin 8.5.0 under WinXP pro SP3 guest. This problem appear under VBox 4.0.2 and 4.0.4. I revert back to 4.0.0 and I don't have this problem anymore. I don't think it is related to the Origin software as the bug is not present on older version of VBox.
Thanks.
Thanks.
