Windows 2000 install failure

Post by gam »

Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows 2000 from CD and it hangs after loading all the drivers; ie, when it gets to the "Starting Windows 2000" phase. It just hangs there after that with no activity indicated on the CD. There's nothing wrong with the CD as I've tested it on a friends PC and it proceeds beyond the problem point on his, so it's definitely VirtualBox on my (20 inch) iMac.

Can anyone help or point me to a resource to help myself please?

Thanks,

GAM

The ol' RTFM, 'eh ;)

Well, I already did that & did increase the IRQ delay to 1. However, I bumped it up to 2, then 3 & all the way to 5 & still the same problem.

I also tried another CD just for good measure. Still the same.

Anything else to suggest?

Regards,

Just in case anyone is having a similar problem...

The problem turned out to be that after installation, I moved VBox from its installed location under Applications to a folder called 'VirtualBox' under Applications, so I could group the manual, the uninstall tool and the app (& VM's, .vdi's etc) under the one folder. Bad move.

Last night, I decided to trash the install & re-install VBox. Having done that, Win2k installed with no problems. I remember seeing a dialogue about the install media right at the initial start of the VM & then we were off & away...

So - until the nice innotek ppl let us specify where we want to install VBox, LEAVE IT WHERE IT WAS INSTALLED.
