I still don't have Compiz running properly in Debian. Apparently I'm not the only one with the problem.

if you know some way to get it working that would be great.

I have Compiz & Emerald running again (sorta). But I get this error message when I enable it...

louis@lou-host:~$ compiz --replace
OpenGL Warning: No pincher, please call crStateSetCurrentPointers() in your SPU
Backend : gconf
Integration : true
Profile : default
Adding plugins

Initializing move options...done

Setting Update "command"

OpenGL Warning: vboxCall failed with VBox status code -39

OpenGL Warning: SHCRGL_GUEST_FN_WRITE_READ (4193484) failed with ffffffdb ffffffea

Initializing text options...done
Initializing minimize options...done
Initializing svg options...done
Initializing imgjpeg options...done
Initializing gnomecompat options...done
Initializing wobbly options...done

I don't know what any of that means, although warning sounds ominous :P

Well, a warning is not an error and it only fails on errors. So in that idea, there is no problem, right? It works, as you say.

okay thanks. I guess I assumed if it was installed or set up correctly it would have no warnings at all. I thought it might be related to the fact that fusion-icon still locks up my machine if I try to start it. I guess I won't try to start it. :)

Then just remove fusion-icon ;). Btw, this is what I get on Konsole in KDE when I start compiz:

Code: Select all

sasquatch@KDE-May:~$ compiz
OpenGL Warning: No pincher, please call crStateSetCurrentPointers() in your SPU
OpenGL Info: Using XSHM for GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
Starting kde4-window-decorator
kde-window-decorator(1545) KWD::KDecorationPlugins::loadPlugin: kwin : path  "/usr/lib/kde4/kwin3_oxygen.so"  for  "kwin3_oxygen"
compiz (cube) - Warn: Failed to load slide: /usr/share/gdm/themes/Human/ubuntu.png
KCrash: Application 'kde4-window-decorator' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/drkonqi from kdeinit
sock_file=/home/sasquatch/.kde/socket-KDE-May/kdeinit4__0
OpenGL Warning: No pincher, please call crStateSetCurrentPointers() in your SPU
Everything works just fine. Each environment gives it's own warnings and such. As long as it works, I wouldn't worry about it.
