Hi
I am have installed Oblivion on my XP home sp3 guest. When I try to run the game, it gets as far as the initial screen with Play, Data Files, Options etc. I click on play and an error window appears with the following:
"Failed to initialize renderer. NiXAdapaterDesc::GetDeviceCaps() failed"
I have installed Guest Additions and when I go run > dxdiag it shows that I am running:
Direct X ver 9.0c
Display device: VirtualBox Graphics Adapter
> DirectDraw Enabled
> Direct3D Acceleration Not available
>AGP Texture Acceleration Not available
I have enabled both 3D acceleration and 2d video acceleration in the Virtual Box session options.
I found a locked topic on here by Technologov .. http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18953 in which he says that he has managed to get Oblivion up and running but is unplayable if mouse integration is on.
Can anyone give me some advice as to how resolve the error and get Oblivion rendering.
Thanks

Hi Stefan
Yes I did install in Safe Mode and I selected the 3D acceleration option during install too - forgot to mention that earlier.
On a side note, not sure I gave the vm enough base mem so I think I'll blow this one away and start again.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Graphic Card on Host?
Some people have some old Intel VGA, which is not enough.
