2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Installed 3.1.2 recently and am having (2) mouse pointers in ANY guest OS I run. This is sooo very annoying right now, I really don't even want to continue to use VirtualBox ... EXTREMELY ANNOYING!! Anyone have similar problems?
OS: Snow Leopard 10.6.2; 4GB Ram; VB: 3.1.2
Any/all help greatly appreciated.

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Installed the latest 3.1.2 VirtualBox Additions. I also updated both OS's ... finding it is OS INDEPENDENT. Seems to be the same side-effect for all of my installed Guests. Just started with the latest 3.1.2 r.56127 build. -Bob-

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Ok I don't understand exactly what you mean. Did you install the guest additions and did it fix the problem? What do you mean it is OS Independent?
Do you mean the guest additions? they do have different ones for different OSes and they are usually all included in the guest additions ISO. You select the one for you application.

I installed the Guest Additions and it DID NOT solve the problem.Ok I don't understand exactly what you mean. Did you install the guest additions and did it fix the problem? What do you mean it is OS Independent?
I went and updated all of my other Guests with the VB Additions and they ALL have the current side-effect described. Therefore, believe the bug/problem is in the current r.56127 build. Thanks. -Bob-Do you mean the guest additions? they do have different ones for different OSes and they are usually all included in the guest additions ISO. You select the one for you application.

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
I and a lot of people have used that build. It must be something specific to your install.
Do the pointers move at the same rate or does one move slightly faster then the other one?
When you installed the guest additions did you install them in the host or the guest?
Do you have anything like compiz running in the host?

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Have downloaded and reinstalled. Nothing fancy with the install ... have used VB since its early days.I and a lot of people have used that build. It must be something specific to your install.
They move at different rates and are not consistant in differential movement across the screen. Have tried to dig further and see if there was a relationship and it seems fairly random. Also, just happened on the latest upgrade/install.Do the pointers move at the same rate or does one move slightly faster then the other one?
GUESTWhen you installed the guest additions did you install them in the host or the guest?
Nope. Just a standard 10.6.2 Mac OS X Snow Leopard install.Do you have anything like compiz running in the host?
Thanks.

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Try removing the guest additions and then reboot the guest. See if it still has (2) pointers.
If you can not remove them then try to reinstall them and watch for any thing unusual.
What is the Linux guest, and is the Solaris really Solaris or OpenSolaris?
Sorry to be asking so many questions but the only time I have seen this is when in a vRDP session and the guest additions were not installed and one other time when a client was using this on MAC osX without the guest additions. I took a look at the bugtracker and can not find anything close to this there either.

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Completely uninstalled/reinstalled VB 3.1.2 r.56127 - still has (2) pointersTry removing the guest additions and then reboot the guest. See if it still has (2) pointers.
Happens with currently installed OS plus NEW OS's (Booted Mint 8 in a live ISO)If you can not remove them then try to reinstall them and watch for any thing unusual.
Sorry, OpenSolaris ... but it is happening with Ubuntu, Mint, WinXP and others. What is the Linux guest, and is the Solaris really Solaris or OpenSolaris?

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Does it happen on the live CD as well?
Oh and uninstalling VBox will not uninstall the guest additions. They must be removed from inside the guest.
Remove them from the WinXP for now and see if that removes the extra pointer.

Re: 2 Mouse Pointers for ANY GUEST OS
Happened on all of them. Problem solved FOR NOW, I back-leveled to 3.0.8 r.53138 and it seems to have eliminated the double mouse pointer.Does it happen on the live CD as well?
Yup. Will leave for now, until VB fixes *this* bug. I am now running Ubuntu 10.04 in a 3.0.8 VB with NO issues. I even get a 1024x768 display. Gotta love it.Oh and uninstalling VBox will not uninstall the guest additions. They must be removed from inside the guest.

Thanks for your help ... but believe it was a side-effect in the recent drop of 3.1.2.
