Re: USB drive problems after upgrading to VBox 3.0.4
I just wanted to pipe in that I too have been experiencing USB troubles with version 3.0.8. Today was the first time for me trying out VirtualBox so I can't comment on earlier versions. I was looking for alternatives to Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion, but for the moment, I can't use VirtualBox because I require the USB connectivity. I was able to get my USB to be recognized by repeatedly unplugging/plugging in the cable, but it only worked a few times with no rhyme or reason. I'll archive my disk image and give it a try again once the USB issues get worked out.

Re: USB drive problems after upgrading to VBox 3.0.4
I having problems across the board with different USB devices and most are coming up as unrecognized devices (even though drivers installed (work the first time), but then after disconnect and reconnect they do not work.
Try going into device manager and reinstalling drivers using the manual method of picking the usb drivers from disk but no luck. In device manager try and find device ID and hardware id to match against the driver inf file, but just shows up as unknown.
The two devices that would be critical for me to work would be an ilok and Syncrosoft elicenser. Trying to use so can use Wavelab 6 in windows 7 or XP, with my Waves plugins.
Using Vbox 3.0.10 and Snow Leopard 10.6.2 with XP-SP3 32 bit and Win 7 Pro 64 Bit and same problem on both with 2 CPU's.
I Will try the suggestion of using 1 processor instead of 2

Re: USB drive problems after upgrading to VBox 3.0.4
This has worked by switching to 1 processor. Please fix bug as have 8 cores on Mac Pro and would like to use 2 cores for vbox.

Well, it is two years later, and I suppose nothing has changed in VBox 4.0.12. Glad I stumbled across this post. I was flummoxed in my dual-cpu MBP.
