Want to see guest OS (WIN7) from host OS (OS X)

Post by kmkittre »

Can someone point me to instructions on how to access the guest OS's IP from the host OS? I was unable to ping the IP that was setup in NAT, even after turning off the Win7 firewall. I tried bridge mode, but then the IP was an autoconfiguration (169.254) address and I was still unable to ping it. I'm obviously missing something because I saw another post about someone accessing mySQL on the guest OS from the host. Thanks in advance!

First welcome to the forum.

Actually if you are going to use SQL and are trying to use emulate a real network environment you should use Bridged mode.
This all depends on how you actually get to the internet on the host. If you have a router Bridged will work right out of the box. If not then you might want to look into setting up a dual adapter configuration in VBox. One NAT for the internet and one host-only to connect the guest to the host.

For information and guidance you just need to open the users guide that is part of the VBox program.

If you end up with questions after that let us know.
