Virus spreading between two VMs

Post by sheepo39 »

I recently set up a Windows XP VM in virtual box, quite a bit later, the VM got infected with viruses, so I turn off the VM, and Secure Empty it in the Trash Bin. I also should note that I wasn't on my network but another local one due to my network being down recently. What I am wondering is if the viruses could spread from that VM onto my other important VM which also runs Windows. DO any of you have any suggestions?

Only if they were both on at the same time. Suggest virus software on all Windows PCs virtual of standard. I would be really concerned if the host was Windows too. The only way that it can traverse to each other is through a share or the network so disabling those in the VM settings should allow you to add the virus software with a CD.
