Guest Windows XP: access to share folders and usb

Post by stefcor »

Hi,

My host is Tiger. And I just installed Virtual BOX 2.1.4 ... My guest is Windows XP. It runs ... BUT ...

I can't access to my defined shared folder ... I tried the "net use" command on my guest (as reas in this forum) but it doesn't work ...

In the forums I've read that we have to install guestadditions but what it is ? Where can I find it ? Could someone tell me more about this ?

I can't share a USB key neither ...

My XP is NTFS formatted ... Might it be the reason of my problems ?

Hi Mate

Are you still looking for help with this?

Fire up your virtual and login
Click on the devices menu and click on 'Install Guest Additions'
It should just run for you so follow the prompts install and restart

If it doesn't run, open explorer and look for the Guest Additions image that will have been mounted as a Cdrom
Run the appropriate installation file from there (for 32bit XP click on the Windows x86 one)

Cheers
