"Guest Additions" - is this something you download

I've been trying to update guest additions and from what I've found, it's done via a CD. I'm assuming that guest additions is some kind of download but I can't find where you download it.

Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Normally you do not need to download them. The current version is always included in the program. When running a guest selecting "install guest additions" presents a cdrom volume to the guest from which the additions can be installed - more or less automatically - depending on your guest OS. Please read the documentation manual.
