Strange way to make guestAddOn to function on ubuntu 8.10 vm

Post by log111 »

I am using Virtualbox 2.1.2 on leopard 10.5.6. I have just installed ubuntu 8.10 x86 desktop vm in vbox. In this vm I enabled VT-x/AMD-V but disabled 3D-acceleration. Then I installed GuestAddOn for the vm. Strangely It just couldn't enable mouse-integration after a restart. I again and again installed GuestAddOn but it's no use. I then enabled the 3D-acceleration and reinstalled GuestAddOn again. MI worked... :?:

That's strange. You might want to check the Linux Guests forum for some more info on MI and custom resolutions. There are some example xorg.conf files you can use the next time you want to install Ubuntu or any other Linux distro. That should be all there is that is needed to get the video and mouse to work.
