Aero support

Post by newhere123 »

When will graphics virtualization improve to the point that we can enjoy Aero in Windows Vista and Windows 7?

From reading the forum, it will be when Direct-X support is available, and this is currently planned, but no date is given. In the meantime OpenGL support is available in the public release, but is currently experimental.

Its a shame we cannot enable the awesome-but-useless effects windows vista brings us........
Lets hope they can do something about it in a near future......

Well, vista already sucks enough - if you cannot have aero on it, it sucks double..........

Hi Noob here. I'm just adding my support for improved graphics support. I want this for when using high end programs and playing high games. Visual effects for the OS's would be good but I primarily want improved graphics capabilities to use software within a virtualbox.

Many thanks :D

Well, it turns out that Aero is finally being used for productivity purposes in Windows 7. The task swapping and real-time previews from the new improved taskbar are proving quite valuable in my experience.

Perhaps this is now a significant reason to push Direct X support up the priority list?

Plus, it's just so damn pretty.. :)

The devs are already working on Aero support. It might be included in 3.1.0, but it's unknown atm if it will truly be in it. All we can do is wait, it's in the works.

That's great news. If devs need help testing Aero support on a few different platforms, then I might be able to help :D

That is indeed great news and I'm hoping to see it rather sooner than later. The competition doesn't sleep, VMWare already has a working, Aero-compatible build in the pipes:

VMWare Private Beta Build 185517 Has Support for Windows Aero

Hi all!!

Has there been any improvement in this subject? any work in progress?
Not a really critical feature anyway, just wondering.... ;)

Sorry, we will hear it when it's in an official release. You can read it in the changelog then.

There is a small utility called "True transparency". It will allow transparent windows.
