Serial COM Ports not recognized in windows

Post by katzlbt »

I have a XP-SP2 Guest system on my mac book pro and want to try to run the Mobile Windows Emulator. It needs a COM port to simulate internet access (I think). So I enabled a "disconnected" port COM2 in the VM setup.

However, XP does not recognize the "hardware" and does not add any COM ports in the device manager. In the System Information IRQs 3 and 4 are not present.

Any idea what I could try to make XP see the ports as hardware? Thanks!

Ok, I could install the ports manually by selecting the com devices in add hardware. XP did not recognize or select them for some reason. Now I am facing the problem that XP does not map the virtual com ports from its XPVCOM.sys driver. I will watch Kill Bill and think of Bill G. ... Grrrr.
