Hi, I've made a fresh install of ubuntu 8.10 on VirtualBox 2.0.4 on my mac (leopard) successfully, but I can install guest additions.

I think I've installed all dependencies, but I don`t know whats happen here.

Here is the log:

Well I'm having the same problem. I'm unable to install virtualbox guest additions for Ubuntu 8.10 because: Kernel configuration is invalid. I think the guest addition installer cannot find linux kernel headers. I was experimenting with different headers:
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.27-7- ...
but no luck so far. So if anybody solved this problem, let us know please.

My setup:
xVM VirtualBox 1.6.2
host: win vista
guest: Ubuntu 8.10

Thanks,
Rasto

Hi,

I just had that problem today when I tried to install the GuestAdditions for a Fedora Core 10 guest, WinXP host, VirtualBox 1.5.4 (old installation)

Updated to VirtualBox 2.0.6, now everything is working fine.
I could even keep the .vdi File, so I did not need to reinstall Fedora Core 10.

My guess is this was fixed just recently in the GuestAdditions (to match the latest Linux kernels?).
