Non matching UUID

Post by Orka »

Because of some hard disk trouble, I cloned a Virtual disk, to save it from the hardware, with Carbon Copy Cloner.
I would like to open that VM but I get the following message:
"VBoxManage: error: UUID {58bb631f-72d8-4dc7-9d49-84e7f992636c} of the medium '/Volumes/MacProjects/Win_XP_Pro_Clone/Win_XP_Pro_Clone-disk1.vmdk'
does not match the value {37e22201-5ba6-476b-8ac6-61e64cebe1c2} stored in the media registry".
It looks normal that by cloning, a file gets a new UUID.
I might try to replace the rejected UUID by the one the cloned virtual disk. However the UUID's shown by the error message do not appear in the media registry.
Furthermore, the message says: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
The IOS version has no effect on this (this problem is dragging on for a while).

Is there a way to reconnect the VM with the .vmdk?

You need to unregister the old media before you can register new media, with any VM, with the same name.
