Graphic resolution for Windows XP

Post by hpoincare »

Hi,

so far virtualbox seems to run quite well on my iMac. The only porblem that I have is that the only resolutions available with Windows XP (as virtual machine) are 800x600 and 1024x768 points even though I have set the graphics memory to 128MB in the configurations for this virtual machine.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Many thanks.

You need to install the Guest Addon as it updates the generic graphics driver. This enables a vast veriety of resolutions (and also integrates mouse sharing , clipboard sharing etc)

The previous poster is right.

Also, don't set your VRAM size to 128 MB. You are just wasting memory. 8 MB is usually enough. The VRAM just needs to be large enough for the resolution & colour depth you wish to use.

Thanks, now it works perfectly! Better even than the trial version of parallels that I tried a while ago.

See the Guest Additions chapter of the user manual. Anyway this thread is ancient - locking it.
