I upgraded to VB 7.0.4 late last year, and yesterday upgraded Mac to Ventura 13.1. This morning I updated the VB Guest Additions from 6.x to the latest release 7.0.4. After starting the VM, Windows 11 starts fine, but it freezes after a couple of minutes: neither the mouse nor keyboard works. Even when sending Ctrl-Alt-Delete from VB to the machine has no impact. I can only stop the machine by closing the VM window > Power Off.
What could be wrong?
Here's the log:
VirtualBox 7.0.4 freezes (Host Mac OS Ventura 13.1; Guest OS Windows 11)

I had this problem too. In the end I fixed it by changing the Display settings to:
-Video Memory: 128MB
- Graphics Controller: VBoxVGA
- Enable 3D Acceleration: Off
This configuration gives an Invalid settings detected warning, but seems to work OK.

granada29, I'd be curious if your VM remained stable if the video card remained on VboxSVGA with the 3D acceleration turned off? VboxVGA is the old school video card which no longer has 3D acceleration available, I think.

@scottgus1
I just tested again with VboxSVGA, 3D acceleration disabled.
Freezes up about 30 seconds after login.

I changed the controller from VBoxSVGA to VBoxVGA, also ignoring the warning, and it's now running flawlessly for more than 30 minutes so fargranada29 wrote:I had this problem too. In the end I fixed it by changing the Display settings to:

Re: VirtualBox 7.0.4 freezes (Host Mac OS Ventura 13.1; Guest OS Windows 11)
I am having the same problem.
I have installed the Windows 11 English iso file downloaded from microsoft
I have checked the hashkey, and it is good
When I start the Virtual machine it only runs for a few seconds and is locked
I have tried the various setting for display recommended in the thread, with no success.
I am running macOS 13.1
I hope someone has the answer for me.
