Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_SHARING_VIOLATION))

Post by ludovicabarsi »

Hi all, I am working on a MacOS Monterey (v12.3.1), I have installed VirtualBox v7.0 and mounted a Ubuntu22.04 OS on it which works properly.
I am having troubles in trying to let my USB device being recognized by Ubuntu.
I already done all the trials that have been already posted in previous threads:

1 - I have installed the extension Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack
2 - From the VM Ubuntu settings, I have enabled the Controller USB 3.0 (xHCI) and I have already filtered the device I want to plugin (Seagate Desktop [0100]) such that, in theory, it should be only recognized by the Ubuntu OS and not anymore by the Mac OS.
3 - I have shut down my VM, let it start again and once everything was set up correctly (after the login) I had plug-in again the external USB device.

Still it gives this error:
Can't attach USB device
Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_SHARING_VIOLATION))
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: |Console{6ac83d89-6ee7-4e33-8ae6-b257b2e81be8}

Do you have any kind of suggestions to solve this problem?
Thank you for your help,
