Dear Team,
I have tried to install Oracle DB Developer VM on virtualBox but I got an error related to CPU (unsupported CPU VERR_UNSUPPORTED_CPU). Result cod NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0X80004005) Interface: IConsole
I have MacBook PRO M1 Ventura 13.0.1.
Have you any idea about the cause of this error?
Best regards

VirtualBox doesn't support M1/M2 hosts. There is a very limited developer preview for v7, not useful unless you're a developer.

That's a good question for Oracle Database help channels or Apple, not here though.khadidja ouarab wrote:What can I use to install oracle database on mac M1?
Virtualbox is for virtualizing PCs, which it does not yet do well on an M1 Mac.

Re: Oracle DB Developer VM on virtualBox MacOS M1 ventura
I am running Oracle Database EE 19c with acceptable performance on macOS Ventura M1 using Parallels and Windows 11 Pro arm64. Microsoft implemented x86_64 emulation into it's arm64 OS which so far seems far superior to QEMU or any other emulation software on the market. It might work also with UTM or using directly QEMU. You can also use colima and run a Docker image of Oracle Database XE.
Also there are recording available on Youtube from Oracle developers mentioning that there are plans to port the Oracle database to arm64 sometime.
