Re: virtualbox v7 - can't connect any USB device

Post by kapitainsky »

I have tried with various USB devices - memory stick, USB disk etc.
And with couple of guests.

Could not attach any USB device to vbox guests. It is something what worked in v6 - I am using the same computer the same OS, the same USB devices etc. only difference is that I installed virtualbox 7.

It is nice progress (especially no more problematic kext extensions) but feels like nobody tested it before releasing. Hopefully my report will help to rectify USB issue.

In the meantime I am back to v6:)

go back to version 6 can not be a solution.
I have the same problem, with MacOS ventura an virtualbox 7 no USB is working in the guest machine. My problem is, that I need the USB for a licence key to start a software. It worked for years, and now it does not anymore.
I really regret the update….

I have read that running Virtualbox under sudo is required to get USB as a workaround for the ongoing development for Ventura and Apple's forced no-kexts. The devs are still working on it.

Sethach, you were told this before viewtopic.php?f=22&t=108313&p=530682#p530682

Are you just venting?
