After a backup and restore (clone) VM wont run

Post by sudokillall »

I am on Mojave (OSX 10.14.6). I cloned my internal hard drive to upgrade to SSD. Cloned it back after installation so I should have an EXACT copy of what I had before, but for some reason since doing so I can't run my ubuntu VM. Error shown below. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

This is a well known issue and has been addressed in topics

The gist of it is that you need to uninstall VirtualBox, clean up any stray remnants, then reinstall. This process will not delete your VM files, only the VirtualBox software.

Just to say, sorted. Thank you very much.

(I had some trouble with installation failing, so I had to reboot after entering "sudo kextcache --clear-staging" and then installed again and it worked (after installing extension pack from here https://download.virtualbox.org/virtual ... ox-extpack).

Thanks again
