Are there any plans to support the M1 hardware on the latest Apple machines?
If there are I might hang on and hope for a build that does.
If not I will look to migrate to another platform immediately.

This is a user discussion site. I'm afraid we are not privy to developer plans.
We have however had a previous unofficial discussion on this subject, stickied right here in this forum: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=98742.
Feel free to try other VM platforms, but none of them support x86 VMs on ARM either. IMO none ever will. This too is already discussed.
