losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
i have faced the trouble with audio interface of virtualbox's emulating default microphone.
Windows apps and system hanged up in the glidge with accessing build-in microphone of MacBooks. i have used Windows 10 VMs in long time, and It's the first time I've faced these troubles.
two VMs have been faced the trouble in same stuations. host os are macOS Catalina 10.15.7, and macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.
case 1:
freeze at opening settings app and browsing settings>systems>Sound.
case 2:
freeze while doing dictation by cortana.
my VMs settings as following.
VirtualBox: ver.6.1.26
guest OS: Windows 10 Pro ver.20H2 build 19042.1165
one is 8GB ram, 4 logical processor of core i7-106NG7 (MacBook Air 2020).
the other is 4GB ram, 2 logical processor of core i5-5257U (MacBook Pro 13inch retina early 2015)

Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
This problem can be avoided by turning off the audio input in the vm settings.
it's perfectly worked by using external mic via usb interface to connect to Windows guest directly.

"the glidge" is not hardware trouble, I guess that is the non-conformance around VirtualBox drivers.apo2 wrote: Windows apps and system hanged up in the glidge with accessing build-in microphone of MacBooks.
Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
This issue is occurred on virtualbox 6.1.26 for Mac OS X, only.
The audio input on virtual box for Windows is worked with no problems.
What action should I take to resolve this issue?

Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
I downgraded virtualbox to 6.1.22 to identify the environment in which this issue occurs, but there were no audio input failures.apo2 wrote:This issue is occurred on virtualbox 6.1.26 for Mac OS X, only.
Please tell me where to report for feedback.

If you can toggle between working microphone and failing microphone simply by switching between .22 and .26, then a post in the Bugtracker, with a working vbox.log from .22 and a failing vbox.log from .26 would be helpful.
Have you checked with Mac's Permissions page if there are permissions to be extended when trying .26?

Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
Thank you for your replying.
This issue is not only audio input failure, but all responses from VM of Windows guest
have also stopped from the time in while the apps has been accessing to mic input.
The logs had been terminated in a moment which this issue was occured.
It's a very serious and urgent issue.
The only way to get out of this state is to kill the VM process from the host OS.

Thanks for the logs.

What is the ticket number or link to your Bugtracker ticket where you posted these logs?scottgus1 wrote:a post in the Bugtracker, with a working vbox.log from .22 and a failing vbox.log from .26 would be helpful.
Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
I needed to change the permissions for over ride to re-install VirtualBox 6.1.22, in Catalina. That is easy for me.scottgus1 wrote:Have you checked with Mac's Permissions page if there are permissions to be extended when trying .26?
Ticket #20544 is for this issue. The logs are posted for #20544 as your advised. Did you have any permissions requests when trying 6.1.26?scottgus1 wrote:Have you checked with Mac's Permissions page if there are permissions to be extended when trying .26?

To upgrade the VirtualBox 6.1.22 to 6.1.26, any permission haven't been requested. What is difference?scottgus1 wrote:Did you have any permissions requests when trying 6.1.26?

Re: losing control of vm with accessing built-in mic on Windows 10 guest
Based on reading the Mac Hosts forum, there have been times when permissions were not granted for some parts of Virtualbox when the Permissions page wasn't open while the Virtualbox process was open. I don't own a Mac so I'm not familiar with the general usage of that kind of computer. And the point was really, while the microphone was being tried, not necessarily while the install was going on. Thus:apo2 wrote:To upgrade the VirtualBox 6.1.22 to 6.1.26, any permission haven't been requested.
As in, after .26 was installed and when you're trying the VM.scottgus1 wrote:Have you checked with Mac's Permissions page .. when trying .26?

if you say about microphone's accessable from which VirtualBox is permitted, that is already to approve for VirtualBox apps.scottgus1 wrote: Based on reading the Mac Hosts forum, there have been times when permissions were not granted for some parts of Virtualbox when the Permissions page wasn't open while the Virtualbox process was open. Otherwise if you say that installation permission is checked for AppStore and Confirmed developer, it's already confirmed.
