Hi All
After the update to 6.1.26 Windows 10 will NOT complete loading - (a Windows XP Guest loads fine).
I have to force Virtualbox to quit.
Thanks,
Don

Re: 6.1.26 Update - Windows 10 Guest not loading on Mac Host
Apart from only giving the VM 1 core and not enabling 3D acceleration, in fact the VM seems to be running fine. It reaches the stage of loading the GAs in only 9.5 seconds - not bad for a dual core notebook PC.
Unfortunately the VM log is truncated, so not much more can be said. Something seems to be up with the real time clock. IME this is usually a sign of a lot of network stuff going on - perhaps Win10 is trying to download an update: a second core would definitely help smooth that lag.00:00:09.500723 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 6.1.22 r144080 '6.1.22'

Doesn't complete loading... the GUI does not respond and clicking on the menu hangs the guest with a pretty colourful beachball mouse pointer... at this point nothing happens and I have to force quit...

Re: 6.1.26 Update - Windows 10 Guest not loading on Mac Host
I'm still seeing nothing wrong, except for that wonky high frequency timer. Time to load GAs this time was 11 seconds.
One thing that may be worth trying is to enable the high performance timer function. From the terminal window type "vboxmanage modifyvm <vm name> --hpet on". If it doesn't work then repeat the command with the last word changed to "off".
Please zip any logs you post in future.

Where would I find the terminal window?

On your keyboard, type CMD-<Space>terminal<Enter>.DonVetOne wrote:Where would I find the terminal window?
After trying the suggestions from mpack, disable audio by unchecking Audio > Enable Audio in the VM settings and see if it helps.

Disabling the audio fixed the problem.... why is this? Is there a setting I need to change?
Thanks,
Don.

Re: 6.1.26 Update - Windows 10 Guest not loading on Mac Host
In VirtualBox 6.1.24, there have been major changes in the audio-related code that fixed a lot of long-standing problems, but also introduced some new ones. Another macOS user had a similar problem to yours, and your Windows%2010-2021-08-09-10-13-06.log file ended with a message regarding the macOS audio input permissions check.
If you need audio support for your VM, or if you want to help identifying the problem, you can try different audio settings (e.g. audio output on, audio input off, different Audio Controllers). Also, take a look at the macOS privacy settings or keep them open while experimenting, to not miss a potential confirmation request, macOS is known to not repeat such requests under some conditions. Note that the integrated webcam can also be an audio input device.
