High Sierra VM won't accept more than 2 processors

Post by will_von_wizzlepig »

This VM has been up and running and once I got the guest extensions installed I had hoped it would accept an increase in processors.

It had 2 when I built it, and after I completed the install I logged in and saw it was all running fine I shutdown and upped the procs to 4 of 8 total.

It will boot but run very slowly with 3 procs, and it will not run at all with 4- the boot process drags along, it's puzzling. I have used VMWare previously and now am on VirtualBox but I know a bit less about it- my other systems (Windows, Linux) do not complain when given more procs.

Any insights or help is greatly appreciated- thank you in advance.

Please provide a VM log file. Make sure the VM is fully shut down, then right click it in the manager UI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Hi, sorry for the lacking info- the VM slowly degraded as I worked on it, so I ultimately gave up and started from scratch, the newer one is working very well.
